Royal finery. ROCAILLE.

Shell-shaped ornaments (called rocailles in French) are characteristic of this exquisite, sumptuously adorned dinner service, and they reflect the attitude to life of courtly rococo. Friedrich Elias Meyer developed the dinner service Antique Zierat in 1767. In 1857, the service was renamed ROCAILLE by King Frederick William IV.
